June 2019 The Great River Road

This will be the year we remember for the flood.From Hannibal north we encountered highway closures where waters had begun to encroach on to the road.Hwy 61 and the Great River Road gave us a first hand look at the devastation all along the Mississippi River.Particularly cities like Davenport, IA where the Centennial Park river front was a mud clean up operation.Winding back and forth across the river to and from Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin;LeClaire, Galena, Dubuque, Prairie du Chien, La Crosse.At Dakota MN, we left the Great River Road and headed west on 90 through the Minnesota farmlands, but we knew we would be back to the banks of the river again as we intended to make it all the way to the headwaters at Itasca.
