How we store

Ever since our youtube video with Robert Morales (link through our Facebook page)

was released we have been asked about the logistics of our method of travel. People want to know how it actually works.

After 4 years of trial and error, I think we finally have a fairly smooth procedure. The most critical factor is booking a storage facility. The only constant on our trips is the beginning and ending point. Naturally we always start from where the RV is stored then make plans for storage at our next destination. It's always easier (and usually cheaper) to fly from a major airport so once we decide on our destination we start looking for storage as close to the airport as possible. Lately we have been using Public Storage but we have used Extra Space in the past. These places have outdoor parking stalls for various monthly fees depending on where you are. Some even offer the 1st month free if you book 2 or more months. These facilities have all been clean and secure. We've never had a problem storing this way.

The next important step is - Uber! I can't say enough about our Uber experiences. Not only does using Uber save us a lot of money going to and from the airports but the drivers are always great and give us good local information and opinions. After the Kentucky Derby we actually had an ex-jockey as a driver. How exciting it was to get the inside scoop from him.

So that's how we do it. Generally easy except for the hard part of walking away from the RV when it looks so forlorn and lonely.

In another blog I'll go through the steps we do in preparing the RV for storage.
